Small minded people who work in small minded businesses.

Him: no coffee, sorry. Her: go right in. Him: why did you just exempt her? Them: fine, you go right in.

With some good luck, you won't have to do this again for ten years.

Can you discuss any of this when it's all over? I keep thinking about things a person can say so he's rejected (capital punishment is too good for him) (four more years! four more years!)

I feel your upset. Mornings are very painful. And I cannot read a real book without strong glasses now.

I don’t mind jury duty per se, but after over a decade of not having to get up to go to a job in the morning, that’t the part of this whole thing I didn’t like.

There was some pretty blatant stupidity involved though. One example - I had a slim thermos with a double americano in it I’d made that morning and I was told I couldn’t bring in a thermos with anything in it, that I still had 20 minutes I could sit down and “enjoy” it before going in. I saw no earthly reason why this would be an issue so I sat and had a few cups. While “enjoying” it I saw a lady go through the line with her thermos and it was handed back to her and she went on it. When I objected a different guy apologized to me and told me it was okay for me to have my coffee - this after having drank nearly half of it already and being highly buzzed.

Turns out it was all a waste of time because the grand jury they were assembling was to consider a case that involved firearms, and after the shooting that occurred here yesterday at the Chief’s parade, they decided it would not be possible to get an impartial jury, so they sent us all home.

That’s fine, but the incompetent part of that is why didn’t they come to that conclusion the night before, not only saving everybody the hassle of showing up, but the court itself a good $5K because they had to pay everybody there $50 a day plus parking plus mileage?

Thus ended my experience with the federal judicial system.
