No Napa
Making twice cooked pork for dinner. The recipe calls for half a Napa cabbage. Went shopping for the stuff I didn’t have on hand. Discovered it was going to cost me $12 for a Napa cabbage to use in the recipe. Decided to spend $2 for an ordinary cabbage instead.
At that price the cabbage was costing more than the pork!
I doubt the finished product would’ve tasted $10 better with a Napa, plus, the recipe calls for half a cabbage so didn’t want to have to worry about what I was going to do with that other half a Napa head.
As I sat down to pen this the theme to Midnight Cowboy started going through my head. It’s a simple theme reflected in the first few bars.

Farm Boy, an expensive newish supermarket in Toronto, sells napa for 68c/lb this week and smaller Chinese and Viet for 33c/lb. Our larger stores sell it for 3.00/lb and would rather compost it than sell it at a fair price.
