Multicolored Dips
It’s no secret I’m a fan of fountain pens and ink but I think I’ve just taken it to a new level.
A few weeks ago I happened upon a brass dip pen holder in a bag of other items. Brass dip pen holders are custom and relatively expensive.
After cleaning it I made the decision to splurge and get a Color Verse shuttle nib for it:
This is a solid piece of brass with channels cut in it, and that routed out pocket in the middle is a reservoir that fills with ink when dipped. The upshot is with one dip it’s hyper loaded with ink and several pages can be filled with text without the need for another dip.
It’s actually quite fun to write with but what I’d not considered before getting this is I’m no longer bound to whatever ink in in a particular pen, because all it takes is a quick rinse and I can dip it in a different color and keep writing.
Today I filled three pages with text, each a different color, with one dip per page.
As much fun as it is, the process is not suitable for music, for that I’m sticking with the dedicated music pen.
Yes, todays piece is in C# lydian, which is why there is that f double sharp in the key signature and yes, I could’ve used Db lydian instead but what’s the fun of that?
If it bothers you readers out there just change the key to one f# and interpret any double sharps in the score as ordinary sharps and any naturals as flats and it’ll play just fine in the key of C.
