339 - Bug Bites
It’s that time of year.
I have numerous berry plants in my yard - gooseberries, boysenberries, blackberries, wild raspberries and red currants. When I go to pick them though if I don’t spray crap all over myself I’m bound to pick up insect bites.
The problem with this is I’m really allergic to these kinds of insect bites. Mosquito bites, no problem, I hardly notice them, but the little rascals that jump on you when you’re reaching into a berry bush - YIKES!
The only thing I found that relieves the outrageous itch is what I call the spoon treatment. Take a big metal spoon, run it under hot water until it’s as hot as I can get it, then mash it down on the bite. It hurts like hell, but the bite stops itching for a while (which’ll necessitate another spoon treatment), so it’s worth the momentary robust pain.
