329 - Time to Pick Cherries
We have a sour cherry tree in our back yard - small sour cherries that are delightful to eat off the tree and make superb pies, preserves, clafoutis and juice.
Unfortunately, the birds love them too so if you don’t get out there fast enough they’ll strip the tree bare in a matter of days.
One year, for some reason, the birds didn’t notice the cherries and they were allowed to ripen to a dark red color, almost a black red. They were amazing. They’d fermented a bit so had an alcoholic tinge to them and were almost sweet.
