299 - Cephalopods
Was at a seafood taco place recently that had octopus tacos on the menu.
I don’t know why I feel this way about octopus, but not any other animal considered to be good eats, but I just can’t bring myself to consume one anymore (I have in the past and it was delicious) for the simple reason that they simply have too much character.
They’re as close to an alien life form as possible. The cephalopod tree branches off what was to become vertebrates way before there were critters with spines and their development and intelligence bears virtually no relation whatsoever to any other critter on the face of the earth. Simply put, they’re fascinating animals.
I tried several times to make this into a larger, more developed composition but it never went anywhere.
