263 - Losing His Cool
I was going to use a different noun in the title but wanted to keep this blog reasonably profanity free, though everybody that knows me knows I have no problem with coarse language.
One of my favorite composers is Morton Feldman whose music often exudes an aura of controlled stasis. Listening to one of his longer compositions is like the aural equialent of watching a beautiful kaleidoscope unfold in slow motion. The composer Samuel Adler knew him fairly well and he once told me Feldman was the most vulgar man he’d ever met. So over the top in fact he had to ask him to put a lid on it once. I don’t know why he felt obliged to pass this information along but I appreciated it.
