We were expecting my sister in law to visit us yesterday.
She’s retired and a night owl, typically sleeping until 5PM and up all night, however when coming to visit she’ll get up “early,” typically here around 2PM, staying for dinner & movies.
She didn’t answer her phone all day yesterday and she didn’t show up when expected. After continually checking via phone we became concerned and drove across the city to check on her.
Her car was there. Ringing the doorbell, pounding on the doors, no response. We have no key so we’re getting ready to call the police when I suggested calling her phone one more time.
Yeah, she was there - she’d slept in. She heard the doorbell & pounding but wasn’t expecting anyone so didn’t answer.
What a pain, but I’m glad she was okay.
I have people like that. My daughter, for example. "Can I see you next Sat?", she might say. "Call me as you leave the house," I reply. "But.." I say, "No buts, just call as you leave. Nothing else matters."
When I visit her, I will text, "I am nearby." (hours later, at 600pm) "Sorry, I was asleep." (I wait about 15m before I quietly give up)
