242 - Moleskine
Notating all these tunes using a fountain pen with a music nib is an aesthetically satisfying experience, however, there is one drawback. Fountain pen ink tends to bleed through the music paper leaving ugly blobs on the reverse side of the paper, sometimes so pronounced it actually stains the next sheet in the notebook.
Unfortunately, the number of people that actually notate on music paper with fountain pens is so minuscule there’s not a lot of choices in bound music notebooks suitable for them. There did seem to be a general consensus that the notebooks by Moleskine would work. The company themselves claims their paper stands up to fountain pens, so I ordered a set of three.
Really nice books too. Nicely bound with a single stitch down the middle - dark covers, nice cream colored paper. First thing I did was try an ink swatch in the upper corner of the first page and it bled through as bad as I’ve ever seen - sigh… they go back, and it’s back to the drawing board.
