If you don’t live in an area afflicted by Japanese Beetles consider yourself lucky.
Of course if you do live in such an area but don’t have any trees the little bastards have a taste for, then you might not really notice them.
They like fruit trees. Most of the trees in our yard are fruit trees. If left untreated they will literally strip all the leaves off the tree, leaving behind skeletal remains of leaves. If the tree is producing fruit it will, understandably, drop all the unripe fruit and concentrate on growing new leaves because, you know, it’s got to live.
These little nuisances show up every year like clockwork starting the end of June and last until mid-august. Unfortunately, because they aren’t native there are no natural predators for them so they just merrily destroy fruit trees with no real pushback from the environment. There are treatments for them but I hate having to spray the trees.
