174 - Is There A Speaker Of The House Yet?

As of today when I composed this it’s day 3 of the clown show that is the house trying to achieve the simple task of selecting a speaker.

I’m so confident that by the time this is posted they will STILL be at an impasse I’ve named this tune accordingly. If it turns out by the time this hits the blog they’ve finally actually elected a speaker, I’ll leave it as is anyway.

I try to stay out of politics here but this is truly an international embarrassment. I fully expect nothing of value to come out of congress for the next two years.

Would love to be wrong.

Okay, so congress finally limped across the finish line late last night after a record 15 attempts and McCarthy made a speech acting as if it was obvious he had a popular mandate. Welcome to politics as usual in highly unusual times.
