168 - The Back Deck
A seemingly mundane subject for a composition, but hey, I have to come up with something every day so I take my inspiration where I can find it.
Actually, by the simple act of covering the deck on the back of our house with a roof, we’ve transformed the area into probably the most pleasant room in our house, or rather, attached to our house. We probably spend more time outside on that deck than in any other area of the house for most of spring, summer and fall.
Today, for instance, we sat out there in the mild heat, which wasn’t at all unpleasant because of a nice breeze, and pit several bowls of cherries while the music of Piero Umiliani played through a speaker. It was pleasant from start to finish.
