While the deck on the back of our house is being rebuilt the back door is unavailable, unless one doesn’t mind a 3 foot drop when they step out, so when four legged Eugene needs to do his business it means taking him out into the front yard, on a leash, and walking him in circles until he finally relents and does his duty.

Do milk stores (convenience, supermarkets) use cubic crates? Around here students and many others 'borrow' these to build semi-secure structures. I'm just thinking a simple idea could get you through this. Use wire or cable straps to keep them in place, and their natural lego-like stacking features. When done, return them.
