154 - Two Tons of Dirt
We decided to put two raised garden beds in our backyard
They were assembled and in place last week - all we needed was two cubic yards of soil to fill them, approximately two tons of dirt.
The garden soil was set to be delivered last week. The weather was nice, cloudy & cool. Unfortunately, it was also rainy so we couldn’t get the soil delivered.
Today was the first dry day in some time so it was delivered. Of course, the only place it could be dumped was the driveway in front of our house. Of course it was a warm day in the 90’s.
Tomorrow it’s supposed to cool off and get cloudy, but we couldn’t wait until then because it’s also supposed to be a day filled with storms, so we had to move all that soil today. Uphill.
I estimated every wheelbarrow full of dirt weighed around 180 lbs. As that’s about the average weight of a human it was as if we’d buried almost 12 bodies in our backyard.
While doing this I thought about Walter White hiding all those barrels of money in that hard packed desert soil in the middle of a hot sunny day in New Mexico while he was in the midst of chemotherapy and decided that had to be a plot error. It would’ve killed him. If you don’t know who I’m referring to don’t worry about it.
At least that’s done - now to fill them with vegetables & tomatoes.
