151 - Sour Cherries Hornpipe
It’s that time of year.
The sour cherry tree in our backyard looks like a pointillistic study in red and green. It’s covered in juicy red sour cherries and now the real trick is getting to them before the birds strip the tree bare.
A few years ago the mulberry tree on the back of our yard distracted the birds for so long the cherries up top where we can’t reach them with the tallest ladder turned almost black from overripeness, so much so that they fermented and when the birds finally noticed them they became drunk on natural cherry wine.
