133 - The Relic
Decided to plant a red yucca on the corner of our driveway by the house to replace the evergreen we’d long ago dubbed “Jabba the Hut” that burned spectacularly (it’s a long story).
As I dug the hole there were so many rocks in that space I began to wonder how Jabba even lived in the spot. As I continued to dig I unearthed one rock that was oddly shaped and colorful. After washing it off I found:
Google image search identified it as a 1970 Tonka fire truck, missing its ladder. For it to be buried under Jabba, which was here when we purchased the house decades ago, it had to be there when the house was built in 1984, which means its likely been sitting under the dirt for 40 years.
I couldn’t help but notice how while the metal is all corroded, the plastic looks good as new.
