131 - Repairing The Line
I really wanted to change the title of this as I’ve noticed a tendency toward ill-named tunes being poorly received, and I think this one from 2022 is pretty good or I wouldn’t be posting it here.
The repaired line I’m referring to is no doubt the perimeter wire around our property the robot mower (Billy) uses to stay in the yard. We have one of those mowers that randomly wanders the yard spinning a set of blade that look like glorified razor blades. It literally keeps the yard looking freshly mowed all the time and I don’t have to do it. I know some people take pleasure in mowing their yards and good for them but I’ve never enjoyed it.
However every once in a while something happens to the line and it needs to be repaired. Fortunately, finding the break is not as difficult as I thought it would be. Wind one end of the line around the spark plug wire on a small engine - I use our weed eater - then follow the line with a portable AM radio tuned to lower frequencies. You will hear static on the line. When the static stops, there’s the break.
The day I did this was the first day I put the mower out for the season and it turned out over winter the line developed multiple breaks which it took a while to find and repair.
In case you haven’t noticed, generally I’m posting tunes from previous books on the weekend and new material on weekdays.
