Referencing supercooling, a technique to save energy during the summer which we’d undoubtedly started doing at this time a few years ago when I wrote this down.
Basically it involves using a smart thermostat to run the air conditioning full tilt from midnight to 6 am when rates are lowest, cooling the house way down. This keeps the house cool during most of the daytime when rates are much higher. We effectively knocked our electric bill in half doing this and it’s way more comfortable.
