110 - Vargan Music I

Just last week I received in the mail a hand forged vargan from one of the top makers in the world, Dmitri Babayev.

It’s a delightful instrument and a lot of fun to play.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to capture the nature and the sound quality of these instruments in any other way than to perform on one of them.

This piece sort-of apes the rhythmic and melodic qualities of vargans (or morsings or dorombs, or jaw harps, pick your term) but it’s at best a poor imitation of the real thing.
