106 - Ode t' Alex

The Captain Beefheart album Clear Spot includes the song, Owed t’ Alex.

I may have borrowed from that title, but this is an Ode to Alex, the gentleman that traveled all the way from Georgia, the country, not the state, to view the eclipse in Clinton AR earlier this month.

Alex chases eclipses. He was so determined to see this one he and his group left Waco TX at 3AM to travel to Clinton because he didn’t want to take a chance on clouds obscuring the show.

We were glad he did because not only was he one of those kind of infectiously fun people to meet, he was a great source of information on things to look for.

His opinion was this eclipse was the best one he’d ever seen.

We tentatively made plans to meet him again in Spain in 2026 if we decide to travel there to see the next one.
