098 - Emerald Waltz
I’ve been admiring Max Ernst’s amazing painting The Temptation of Saint Anthony, a fantastic work that, as much as anything else, is a study in shades of green.
Ernst used a unique frottage technique in this (and many other works of his). He would place the canvas on a textured surface like a wooden floor then rub it with crayons or pencils to transfer the texture onto the canvas then translate the textures into various shapes, in this case, demons.
This is my current iPad desktop .
I was thinking about the painting when I jotted down this waltz. As my pen happens to currently be loaded with green ink the abundance of green suggested an Emerald Waltz.
