095 - Almost Like Paper

I’m not going to promote any products on here but the title refers to a screen protector I purchased for the iPad I use for composing these tunes that claimed to make the experience of using an Apple Pencil on an iPad feel like writing on paper.

I installed it and I’m not sure it’s all that paper-like because what it’s done is introduce a certain amount of friction to the process that wasn't there before. It’s not unpleasant, but considering before I used the iPad for these tunes I was using fountain pens & manuscript paper, I can tell you it definitely does NOT feel like that, but then again, good fountain pens are supposed to flow and offer very little friction.

I suppose an argument could be made that it’s now closer to an actual pencil / paper experience, but even then, when I composed with pencils I used soft, black leads, so even then there was more of a flowing experience.

Anyway, this is the first piece I composed with the new screen protector and it’s allegedly paper - like texture.
