067 - March Mallow
Generally I don’t fiddle with MIDI program changes for any of these posts because, frankly, no matter what I do they’re still going to sound like mechanical MIDI files. The purpose of this blog is to present the musical ideas as I set them down daily, not a string of polished / finished performances.
One of the big drawbacks to changing the tone color of the melody here is, frankly, most of the standard built in software synthesizer sounds available with ABC are pretty awful. Not all of them, but labeling most of them as useless is being generous.
Regardless, you’ll notice a few experiments with changing the voices from the standard electric piano sound have been cropping up lately. I went a little overboard on this one, changing the tone several times throughout the performance.
