066 - Ban The News
I try to stay non-political on here because trying to get people to listen to this stuff is difficult enough as it is and the minute anyone starts talking politics they instantly piss off about half of their audience.
Regardless, I’ve noticed how much better I feel when I’m ill-informed about current events by staying away from the news. This isn’t the way it’s supposed to be, but it’s a fact.
Over my lifetime “the news” has morphed from honest attempts to convey just the facts, mam to a for-profit industry, to do this they need viewers to make money for their advertisers and nothing spells money and viewers more than healthy doses of outrage and both-sides-isms even when there really aren’t two legitimate sides to a story.
Walter Cronkite is spinning in his grave.
Since there is virtually nothing I can do about anything in the news anyway, I’ve concluded the frustration and outrage I experience watching it is unnecessarily bad for my health, so I’m cutting it way back.
Depending on how the election goes in November I may be cutting it out entirely for the next four years.
Sanity demands it.
