058 - Iktome

One of my favorite pieces from the 2012 set.

Iktome is a reference to a character that featured in my composition for my masters degree, Coyote, Iktome and The Rock, a rather unique composition for piano, violin, cello, mandolin and accordion. It was choreographed by Randy Barron and featured the characters mentioned in the title, Coyote, the trickster, Iktome, the maiden, and The Rock, which rolled around a lot.

This music was not composed at the time of that ballet. I just thought it kind of captured Iktome’s character.
