055 - Allegro Barbaro
One of the visionary 19th century composer Alkan’s most famous works, if any of his works can be said to be famous, is an etude in F lydian, Allegro Barbaro. The piece is not only at an insane tempo, but being on all the white keys throughout makes it especially difficult. If you’re not a pianist, you might assume pieces on the white keys are easier, but this is not the case. Without a few black keys your hands have no reference points and it’s as if you’re trying to perform on a flat ribbon. it takes real precision.
The only relation between my tune and Alkan’s etude is the key and fast tempo. I throw in a few black notes occasionally too,
