044 - Golden Claws
Coding two voice textures throughout a piece with lots of articulation marks and slurs using ABC is time consuming, but I think it was worth it here. To give an example, here is the code for the first line of this tune:
"Dm"z4&(d.c) .B.A|:"Gm"(d.e) .f.g&.G.F .E.D|"Dm".a.b .c'.d'&(d.c) .B.A|"Gm"(d.e) .f.g&.G.F .E.D|"Bb".a.b .c'.d'&(_e.d) .c.B|"F7"(c.d) ._e.f&.A.G .F._E|"C7".g.a .b.c'&(=e.d) .c.B|
Ironically, after titling this piece it dawned on me it is a bit like a crab canon, though not strict. A crab canon is when one voice is the other voice backwards, Bach did it frequently. I won’t compare myself to him ever, but here, because of the articulation, it’s more like one voice is an inversion of the other, so I suppose not really that crabby, but perhaps a bit golden claw-y?
