033 - Panpsychism Waltz
Panpsychism - the theory that everything has a consciousness, from the smallest particle to galaxies in orbit.
Watching a youTube video on this topic today I paused it to tell Teresa about a book I read decades ago, Starmaker, by Olaf Stapleton, that was as much a philosophical treatise as it was science fiction, where at the end the narrator came to the realization that the entire universe was, in actuality, one huge brain and all the galaxies and all other material were just neural transmissions - thoughts - being communicated on a scale immeasurably beyond our ability to comprehend them. I thought it was apropos to the video we were watching. When I resumed the video it wasn’t but a few minutes later that they discussed that very book!
The melody in the first half of this is technically in 4/4, but it’s forced into triple meter, which accounts for it’s staggered hesitancy.
