029 - Hypnopompic Music
Last night I fell asleep in the easy chair, waking up around 3AM. My iPad was handy so since I’d yet to compose anything that “day,” despite being somewhat sleep addled I started scribbling in the general key of G dorian. This is what I wrote in my groggy, hypnopompic state:
It ended up being better than I’d expected. Perhaps I should compose more often when I’m barely conscious.
I changed it very little for today’s post.
As is often the case, this one sounds better when played on a piano with generous pedaling and a few well placed dollops of rubato, not something that can be done very easily with ABC MIDI playback, outside of more time consuming editing than I feel like fiddling with:
