026 - Ebony Bones
A little over a week ago I happened onto a pair of musical bones in the thrift store:
They charged a whopping $2.99 for these - a bargain!
After a bit of research I discovered these were made with cow rib bones and the “B)(B” engraved on each stood for the late Dave Boyles who made and sold these under the name ‘Black Bart.’
They’re really loud and take a lot of finesse to play well, which I can’t do - yet. In the hands of someone that knows what they’re doing, bones sound amazing.
I wanted a 2nd pair for two handed playing, so ordered some made from ebony. They were a lot more expensive than the thrift store pair!
