003 Insignificant Doodle #1
In keeping with the new direction of this blog, this is a piece from the first iteration of Tuna Day in 2012. I’m going to start with a few pieces that I can back to and reworked into a larger composition.
Thought I assigned the #1 to this piece there never was a followup doodle.o
I’m not much in the way of a songwriter, that is, songs with lyrics meant to be sung. One of the last projects I signed up for when finishing my DMA was a “complaboration,” between the UMKC vocal and composition department. I was assigned a soprano and the two of us developed a composition.
In this case, the composition became part of a song cycle based upon texts by Charles Bukowski, “Bukowskiana,” for soprano / kazoo and mandolin. The kazoo was treated seriously as a voice transformer and the last piece in the cycle, Elegy, used this piece played on kazoo with mandolin. Hopefully my link starts at right time, if not, fast forward to 9:30 to hear the realization.
